Maritime students successfully complete internship on international vessels

The internship of the eleven students of the Suriname Maritime Institute (SMI) on the international vessels of the Nearshore Drilling project has been completed. On 16 December they received their certificate of completion.

The students have limited internship opportunities locally and usually have to go abroad. From mid-June this year they could, alternately, be at sea every two weeks to gain practical experience. Their internship was part of a sustainability initiative of the Nearshore Drilling project in collaboration with the logistics contractor, Medserv and the Logistics Education Foundation (SLO). The Surinamese Maritime Institute resort under the SLO.
In February 2020, these students will complete their Maritime Officer education.
