7. Conclusion
New Perspectives

The Suriname-Guyana Basin is still an under-explored, but highly prolific basin.
The risked reserve expectation is at least 15 billion barrels (based on calculations of the USGS).
To date, some 200 million risked reserve have been proven onshore Suriname (Tambaredjo and Calcutta Oilfields).
So far at least 7 prospects have been mapped in the nearshore area, and several prospective areas onshore. Mapping is still in progress.

The onshore and shelf areas are characterized by Low reservoir and charge risks, but with a slightly higher seal and trap risks. The prospects are mainly stratigraphic.
The Shelf-edge and slope are characterized by huge channel complexes, while turbidites and fans have been mapped on the basin floor.

The Cenomanian-Turonian source rock is considered to be major charge, but Jurassic and Tertiary source rock are expected to contribute (to a lesser extent) to petroleum system of the Suriname-Guyana Basin.
