Welcome to the Petroleum Contracts Division of Staatsolie

The Petroleum Contracts division embodies the institutional function of Staatsolie. Our objective is to create the greatest possible value to society from Petroleum activities, through prudent resource management, with utmost respect for the environment, and with highest regard for safety.

Our functions include:

Assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of Offshore Suriname
Promotion of available acreage
Negotiation and monitoring of petroleum sharing contracts
Liaising between International Oil Companies and the government of Suriname

Offshore Suriname is virtually un-explored, with only 22 exploration wells drilled in an area of approximately 150,000 square km.

2D seismic survey Demerara Plateau

On November 9th 2011 Staatsolie started the acquisition of its regional 2D survey on the Demerara Plateau. Approximately 5000 km of 2D data will be acquired using the SR/V Veritas Vantage.
