Gerard den Dekker
Gerard den Dekker is Deputy Director Corporate Services and a member of the Executive Board of Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. At executive level, he sets direction and ensures alignment across the Corporate HRM, ICT, Communications, and HSEQ & Sustainability portfolios. The departments deliver this work, each led by its own manager.
He has a background in business administration, organizational development, and management, and nearly twenty-five years of experience in leadership and strategic roles. Before joining Staatsolie, he worked for many years at United Caribbean Contractors (UCC). There, he held positions including Manager Support & Consultancy and later Director. In these roles, he was responsible for strategy and governance matters, and for organizing support and specialist disciplines such as Logistics, HRM, HSEQ, ICT, and Sustainability.
Gerard den Dekker holds degrees in Business Administration and Land, Water and Environmental Management. He is committed to sustainability, including as a member of the SDG Platform Suriname and as initiator and coordinator of the SDG Private Sector Commission. He also served as a board member of the ICT Association and the Suriname Business Association (VSB). In addition, he holds several societal positions, including Honorary Consul of Austria in Suriname.
