Ewald Poetisi studied Geology (Licentiate degree) at the Faculty of Technological Sciences of Anton de Kom University of Suriname and obtained a Master of Science in Geology from Florida International University in Miami (USA).

He has work experience in Suriname as an exploration geologist with the Geological and Mining Service (GMD) and as a lecturer and researcher at Anton de Kom University of Suriname. He is the owner of FIMAS Consultancy in Suriname and has worked for various mining companies in Suriname.
