Prior to becoming the Director Upstream, Rekha held several management positions within Staatsolie in the past 23 years. Rekha has a wealth of knowledge of the Oil & Gas Sector and extensive experience in developing and leading exploration and production activities, including asset management and maximizing the return on upstream investments. 

She started in 1999 with field development planning as a Geologist and moved to manage the Production Operations in 2006. The past 10 years she filled in the following management roles: Production Manager, Exploration Manager, Exploration & Development Asset Manager, Production Asset Manager, Deputy Director Onshore Upstream (2020) and Director Upstream (Dec 2020- current).

Rekha is a board member of the Association of Petroleum Enterprises of Latin America (ARPEL), member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).

She is also a board member of the UJV Boards in the Gold Partnerships (Newmont-Staatsolie and Iamgold-Staatsolie), member of the Supervisory Board of GOw2 N.V and board member of the Suriname Trade & Industry Association (VSB).

Rekha holds an Executive MBA from the IMD Business School of Switzerland (EMBA), a master’s degree (MBA) in Management & Accounting from the Maastricht School of Management with specialization in Risk Management, a Postgraduate in Petroleum Technology, from the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands, and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname.
