Director Downstream & Power

Eddy Fränkel

Eddy Fränkel, Director of Downstream & Power at Staatsolie, holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management, obtained via the FHR Institute in Suriname. 

Prior to his appointment as statutory Director on 6 May 2024, Eddy held several key positions within Staatsolie since joining the company in 1996 as a Mechanical Engineer. His previous roles include: 

  • Power & Sustainable Energy Deputy Director (2019–2024) 
  • Operations Manager at the Refinery (2018–2019) 
  • Director of Staatsolie Power Company Suriname N.V. (SPCS) (2016–2018) 
  • Project Manager for major renewable energy initiatives, including the Tapajai Hydropower Project and the Wageningen Ethanol Project (2010–2015) 
  • Operations Manager during the construction of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the 96MW SPCS thermal power plant (2006-2010) 

Before joining Staatsolie, he worked as a Development Engineer at Stork Ketels B.V. in Hengelo, the Netherlands.
