PETRONAS Completes Drilling of Caiman-1 Well in Block 52

PETRONAS Suriname has completed drilling of the Caiman-1 exploration well in Block 52 offshore Suriname on 6 December 2025.

57 Surinamese companies certified through Blue Wave Program

Fifty-seven Surinamese companies have completed the third edition of the Blue Wave Supplier Development Program. They received their certificates on December 3, 2025. The Blue Wave program is an initiative of Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. (State Oil Company Suriname) and is supported by Chevron, Qatar Energy, TotalEnergies, and PetroChina.

Staatsolie Initiates Seismic Study in Shallow Offshore

On November 20, 2025, seismic research began in the shallow offshore area off the coast of Saramacca and Coronie. This survey is a joint project between Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., the Chinese Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting (BGP Offshore), and the Norwegian/American company Tomlinson Geophysical Services Inc. (TGS).

Drilling of Korikori-1 Exploration Well to Begin in Block 5

Staatsolie announced today that Chevron Suriname Exploration Limited is expected to begin drilling the Korikori-1 exploration well this month. The well is located approximately 78 kilometers offshore, in the north-central part of Block 5 at a water depth of around forty meters. Block 5 is operated by Chevron (40%) in partnership with Paradise Oil Company (POC) (40%) and Qatar Energy (20%).
